ServerDevTools Documentation

Inspect, trace, and debug your Node.js backend from one developer-focused dashboard.

ServerDevTools is an embeddable inspector for Node.js applications. It records the request lifecycle in a local SQLite database and serves an authenticated dashboard from your existing HTTP server.

ServerDevTools works on any Node.js server, and the /_devtools dashboard is protected by the configured username and password. Because it can display sensitive request data, use strong credentials, HTTPS, and restrict access to trusted environments where possible.

Install

npm install server-devtools

Supported integrations

  • Frameworks: native Node.js HTTP, Express, and NestJS.
  • Database and cache drivers: MongoDB, pg, mysql2, and ioredis.
  • Outbound requests: native http/https and fetch through Undici instrumentation.

Browse the framework integrations or jump to database operations.

What you can inspect

Request and response details, middleware and handler spans, database operations, Redis commands, outgoing HTTP calls, errors, timings, filters, search, and optional current-user context.
